AITO is the premium electric vehicle brand born from the historic collaboration between SERES Group and Huawei Technologies. Launched in 2021, AITO represents China's most ambitious fusion of automotive manufacturing and consumer technology — vehicles where Huawei's HarmonyOS smart cockpit, intelligent driving systems, and technology ecosystem are so deeply integrated that the result transcends the conventional definition of a connected car.
AITO (Ask Intelligence Technology Owner) emerged from one of the most consequential partnerships in China's automotive history — the collaboration between SERES Group, a Chongqing-based electric vehicle manufacturer, and Huawei Technologies, China's technology giant. Unlike most technology-automotive partnerships that see tech companies supplying software to established automakers, the SERES-Huawei arrangement is far more integrated: Huawei participates in vehicle design, smart cockpit development, intelligent driving systems, sales through Huawei retail stores, and ongoing software management.
The AITO brand was positioned from the outset as a premium alternative to BMW, Audi, and Mercedes-Benz — not by mimicking European luxury conventions, but by offering a fundamentally different value proposition centred on technological richness and digital ecosystem depth. The brand's target buyer is the Chinese consumer who is deeply invested in Huawei's product ecosystem and sees the AITO vehicle as a natural extension of their connected lifestyle.
The AITO M9, launched in 2023, became the brand's defining achievement — a full-size luxury SUV that achieved monthly sales figures competing with BMW X5 and Mercedes GLE in China despite being far newer to market. The model's success demonstrated that Chinese premium EV buyers were willing to choose technology richness over traditional luxury heritage when the technology proposition was sufficiently compelling.
AITO vehicles are defined by clean, premium exterior design and technology-saturated interiors featuring large Huawei displays, HarmonyOS cockpit, and intelligent sensor arrays.

AITO's range spans three SUV models from compact through full-size, all sharing the Huawei HarmonyOS cockpit experience and intelligent driving capabilities.
AITO vehicles incorporate Huawei's most advanced technology across every dimension of the vehicle experience. HarmonyOS provides a unified digital cockpit that seamlessly integrates with Huawei smartphones, tablets, and smart home devices. Huawei ADS delivers some of the most capable driver assistance available in production vehicles, with ongoing improvements through regular OTA updates.
Huawei's technology products already have significant consumer presence in Azerbaijan, creating a favourable context for AITO vehicle consideration among existing Huawei ecosystem users. The brand's ability to offer BMW and Mercedes-equivalent luxury experience at significantly lower price points makes it an attractive proposition in a market where premium European vehicles carry high import costs.
As SERES and Huawei develop international distribution strategies for AITO, the Caucasus and Central Asian markets are natural targets given existing Huawei brand strength and growing appetite for Chinese premium products among affluent buyers seeking technology-rich alternatives to European luxury brands.
