The BYD Fuel Cell Truck Chassis extends hydrogen drivetrain capability to the specialist body builder market. The chassis integrates the complete hydrogen fuel cell system — PEM stack, hydrogen pressure vessels, thermal management, buffer Blade Battery, power electronics, and electric drive motors — in a ready-for-body rolling platform.

Body builders approved by BYD can mount specialist truck bodies on this chassis platform: hydrogen-capable tanker bodies for gas distribution, specialist municipal bodies requiring long operational range, heavy specialist equipment carriers, or any application where the long-range zero-emission capability of hydrogen propulsion is required but standard BYD complete truck configurations cannot provide the necessary body type.

The chassis format also enables re-bodying strategies — the hydrogen drivetrain chassis can accept a new body at end-of-body life, extending the service period of the expensive fuel cell and drivetrain components. For large fleet operators making significant hydrogen infrastructure investments, re-bodying reduces the long-term cost of hydrogen commercial vehicle operation.
