BAIC Group's premium electric vehicle brand — combining advanced battery technology with intelligent driving systems for a luxury EV experience.
Arcfox is the premium electric vehicle brand of BAIC Group (Beijing Automotive Industry Holding Co.), one of China's largest state-owned automotive conglomerates. Established in 2017 as a sub-brand dedicated exclusively to electric mobility, Arcfox was designed from the outset to compete in the upper segment of China's rapidly expanding EV market — targeting buyers who wanted sophisticated electric vehicles with luxury positioning rather than the value-oriented EVs that dominated the market's early growth phase.
The brand's name draws on the concept of an "Arctic fox" — an animal that thrives in extreme conditions — reflecting Arcfox's engineering focus on vehicles that perform reliably across a wide range of temperatures and environments. This was a deliberate differentiator in China's EV market, where early adopters had experienced significant range degradation in cold weather conditions.
Arcfox made international headlines in 2021 when it launched the Alpha S HI — a collaboration with Huawei that integrated the technology company's HarmonyOS operating system and its advanced autonomous driving system into a production electric vehicle. This partnership gave Arcfox access to Huawei's substantial software and sensor development capabilities, producing one of the most technologically sophisticated production EVs available in China at the time of its launch.
Arcfox's lineup combines SUV practicality with sedan sophistication, all sharing a common electric architecture that prioritises range, technology integration, and premium positioning.
China's premium electric future — Arcfox vehicles combine BAIC Group's manufacturing scale with Huawei's technology depth to produce sophisticated electric vehicles for the premium segment.

Arcfox vehicles are built on a dedicated electric vehicle platform — the BMF (BAIC Mobility Foundation) — that separates the electric powertrain architecture from traditional ICE vehicle constraints. The platform accommodates both single-motor rear-wheel-drive and dual-motor all-wheel-drive configurations, with battery packs positioned in the floor for optimal weight distribution and a low centre of gravity.
The partnership with Huawei has given Arcfox access to technology capabilities that most automotive manufacturers cannot develop independently. The Alpha S HI's autonomous driving system uses Huawei's computing architecture — delivering 400 TOPS of processing power — combined with a comprehensive sensor suite that includes LiDAR, radar, and cameras. The HarmonyOS-based infotainment system provides seamless integration with Huawei's broader ecosystem of devices and services.
Arcfox vehicles are not currently distributed through official channels in Azerbaijan, as the brand's primary market focus remains mainland China. However, Azerbaijan's growing interest in electric vehicles — driven by fuel cost considerations and the government's clean transport initiatives — means that Chinese EV brands are increasingly under consideration by progressive buyers.
For Azerbaijani buyers interested in premium Chinese electric vehicles, BakuWheels connects buyers with importers who specialise in sourcing and preparing Chinese-market EVs for the Azerbaijani market. Arcfox's technology depth, particularly the Huawei partnership models, represents a level of autonomous driving and connectivity technology that few European or American competitors offer at comparable price points — making it an increasingly compelling proposition for technology-oriented buyers.
