Origins & Heritage

Few automotive brands carry a military lineage as storied as Jeep. In 1940, the United States Army issued an urgent request for a lightweight reconnaissance vehicle that could traverse any terrain. Three manufacturers — American Bantam, Willys-Overland, and Ford — all built competing prototypes. The Willys MB ultimately became the standardised design, though all three companies produced variants during the war. The resulting vehicle was rugged, simple, and near-indestructible, earning the affection of Allied forces across every theatre of World War II.

When the war ended, Willys-Overland recognised the civilian potential of its military workhorse. In 1945 the company launched the CJ-2A — Civilian Jeep — making Jeep the first mass-market off-road vehicle available to the general public. Farmers, ranchers, and adventurers embraced it immediately. The brand changed hands several times: Kaiser-Jeep acquired Willys in 1963, American Motors Corporation in 1970, and Chrysler absorbed AMC in 1987.

Under Chrysler, Jeep engineered some of its most consequential vehicles. The 1984 Cherokee (XJ) pioneered the modern compact SUV. The 1992 Grand Cherokee brought luxury appointments and advanced four-wheel-drive systems to a broader audience. Through subsequent ownership changes and the formation of Stellantis in 2021, Jeep has remained the group's most globally recognised brand. The 80th-anniversary Wrangler underscored that the original WWII spirit remains the soul of every vehicle bearing the seven-slot grille.

Innovation & Technology

Jeep's engineering philosophy centres on the Trail Rated badge — a certification awarded only to models that meet demanding standards across five off-road disciplines: traction, ground clearance, manoeuvrability, articulation, and water fording.

The Selec-Terrain five-mode system electronically calibrates throttle response, transmission shift points, stability control, and torque distribution to match the surface. Paired with Selec-Trac full-time 4WD or the Wrangler Rubicon's Rock-Trac system featuring a 4:1 crawl ratio, Jeep vehicles can navigate conditions that defeat virtually all other production vehicles.

Dana 44 axles on the Wrangler Rubicon deliver proven strength and repairability. The Wrangler 4xe and Grand Cherokee 4xe plug-in hybrids deliver electric-only off-road capability alongside reduced emissions, while the Uconnect 5 infotainment system brings premium connectivity to the cabin.

  • Trail Rated badge — validated traction, clearance, articulation, manoeuvrability, and water-fording performance
  • Selec-Terrain 5-mode system — electronically optimised for Auto, Snow, Sand/Mud, Rock, and Sport
  • Selec-Trac and Rock-Trac transfer cases — including 4:1 crawl ratio for extreme rock crawling
  • Dana solid axles — field-proven strength and global parts availability
  • 4xe plug-in hybrid system — electric-only off-road capability in Wrangler and Grand Cherokee
  • Uconnect 5 infotainment — 10.1-inch touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, Amazon Alexa

Jeep in Azerbaijan & the Caucasus

Jeep has carved a devoted following in Azerbaijan, where the terrain varies dramatically from the Caspian coastal plains to the rugged highlands of the Lesser Caucasus. The Wrangler is particularly prized among oil-field operators who need reliable access to remote sites, as well as outdoor enthusiasts who tackle Caucasian mountain tracks.

The Grand Cherokee has established itself as a premium family SUV of choice for Azerbaijani professionals, offering a blend of on-road comfort, spacious interiors, and genuine four-wheel-drive capability. The 4xe plug-in hybrid variants are attracting growing interest from environmentally conscious buyers in Baku's expanding urban market.

Why Choose Jeep?

  • Unmatched off-road pedigree: More than 80 years of purpose-built four-wheel-drive engineering, from WWII battlefields to the most technical rock trails.
  • Trail Rated assurance: Only Jeep models earn the Trail Rated badge after rigorous validation across traction, clearance, articulation, and water-fording criteria.
  • Open-air freedom: Wrangler and Gladiator offer removable doors, fold-down windshields, and open roofs for an immersive outdoor experience unmatched by any production vehicle.
  • Broad model range: From the urban Renegade to the luxury Grand Wagoneer and the hardcore Wrangler Rubicon, Jeep covers every lifestyle and budget.
  • Electrified off-roading: The 4xe lineup brings instant electric torque to off-road driving, reducing emissions without compromising capability.
