Overview
The Volkswagen Phideon is a luxury sedan produced for the Chinese market by SAIC-VW joint venture since 2016. Conceived as the Chinese continuation of the Phaeton, it sits on MQB B8 platform — but with a 320 mm longer wheelbase than Passat B8 (2,899 mm). This is to meet the traditionally high demand of Chinese executive buyers for rear-seat comfort.
The Phideon engine range covers 2.0L TSI (220 hp) and 3.0L V6 TSI (380 hp) petrol variants. The 3.0L V6 TSI comes with a DQ381 7-speed DSG gearbox. Interior specification includes Nappa leather, four-zone climate, panoramic roof, electric curtains, and active sound systems as standard.
In Azerbaijan, the Phideon is virtually impossible to find — produced exclusively for the Chinese market. Technically, MQB platform components are shared with Passat B8, but China-specific luxury parts are very difficult to source internationally.
