The Bentley Arnage restored the brand's independence — replacing the BMW-engined Green Label with a Bentley-developed twin-turbo 6.75L V8 Red Label that defined the late 1990s ultra-luxury flagship.
The Bentley Arnage was launched in 1998 as a replacement for the Brooklands, arriving at the same time as Volkswagen Group's acquisition of Bentley from Vickers. Its history is defined by the famous powertrain switch: the first Green Label Arnage (1998–1999) used a BMW-developed twin-turbo engine, while the Red Label (1999+) reinstated Bentley's own twin-turbocharged 6.75-litre V8 — a decision driven by the desire for brand authenticity under new VW Group ownership.
In its final T and Final Series specifications, the Arnage developed 500 hp and 1,000 Nm of torque — enormous figures for a large luxury saloon of that era. The Arnage T, in particular, was notable for offering genuine performance alongside traditional Bentley opulence: 0–100 km/h in 5.3 seconds despite weighing over 2.5 tonnes.
In Azerbaijan, pre-owned Arnage examples are sought by collectors and enthusiasts who appreciate the Mulsanne era of Bentley craftsmanship at a more accessible price point than the later Mulsanne. The body-on-frame construction, hand-built interior, and famous engine combine to create one of the most distinctive ultra-luxury ownership experiences available in the pre-owned market.

| Variant | Engine | Power | Drive | Best For |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Arnage Green Label | BMW 4.4L V8 Twin-Turbo | 354 hp | RWD | Collector rarity — BMW engine variant (1998–1999) |
| Arnage Red Label | 6.75L Bentley V8 Twin-Turbo | 400 hp | RWD | Classic Bentley character, entry to the 6.75L family |
| Arnage T | 6.75L Bentley V8 Twin-Turbo | 450 hp | RWD | Performance flagship — fastest standard Arnage |
| Arnage Final Series | 6.75L Bentley V8 Twin-Turbo | 500 hp | RWD | Highest power, most refined — final production specification |
| Model | Strength | Compromise |
|---|---|---|
| Rolls-Royce Silver Seraph | Similarly historic, more serene ride quality | Less performance focus, BMW-sourced engine |
| Mercedes-Benz S600 | Broader dealer support, more technology | Far less exclusive, no Bentley heritage value |
| BMW 7-Series (E38/E65) | More modern technology, lower running costs | No prestige comparison at this level |
The Arnage offers an authentic connection to Bentley's independent engineering spirit and the 6.75L V8 tradition. In pre-owned form, it delivers extraordinary luxury at a fraction of the new-car cost — but buyers must be realistic about maintenance complexity and specialist parts requirements in the Azerbaijan market.
