Omoda is a premium-positioned Chinese SUV brand launched in 2022 by Chery Automobile as the brand's flagship international export marque. Conceived from the outset to compete with established Korean, Japanese, and European SUVs in global markets, Omoda combines bold "ART in motion" design with advanced technology and competitive pricing — representing Chery's most sophisticated and design-led international product offer.
Omoda was created in 2022 by Chery Automobile as the brand's premium international identity — a step above the value-focused Kaiyi export brand and intended to bring Chery into a competitive position in the mainstream-premium global SUV segment. The brand name combines "O" (representing something complete and perfect) and "moda" (fashion/style) — consciously signalling a focus on design-led appeal rather than purely functional specifications.
Chery has been one of China's most internationally active automakers for over two decades, exporting vehicles to 80+ countries. Omoda represents the distillation of this export experience into a brand specifically engineered and designed for international tastes — with European-inspired exterior design, premium interior materials, and advanced driver assistance and connectivity features that international buyers increasingly expect as standard.
Within two years of launch, Omoda established distribution in 60+ countries and generated significant excitement in markets including Australia, the Middle East, Central Asia, and Latin America. The C5 compact SUV — Omoda's debut model — became one of the fastest-adopted Chinese export vehicles in several new markets, proving the effectiveness of the brand's design-first approach.
Omoda's "ART in motion" design philosophy creates genuinely distinctive vehicles that challenge the assumption that Chinese cars need to look conservative to succeed internationally.

Omoda's growing range covers compact and mid-size SUVs in both petrol and full-electric configurations, all sharing the brand's signature "ART in motion" exterior design language and premium-positioned interior specification.
Omoda sits on the Chery T1X platform, which incorporates cumulative engineering learning from Chery's 25 years of international vehicle development. The brand's ADAS package — standard across most trim levels — covers autonomous emergency braking, lane keeping assist, blind spot monitoring, and adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go capability. The Omoda E5's electric platform delivers 150 kW of power with a 61 kWh battery supporting DC rapid charging to 80% in under 45 minutes.
Omoda has gained rapid traction in Azerbaijan, particularly the C5, which has attracted younger buyers drawn to its bold European-inspired design and strong equipment levels. The brand's Chery heritage provides an engineering credibility base, while the Omoda brand identity offers something fresher and more emotionally engaging than the more utilitarian Chery-badged models.
Across the South Caucasus, Omoda is establishing dealer presence in Azerbaijan alongside Georgia and Armenia — building the regional network to support its growing customer base. The E5 electric model has attracted attention as Baku's EV charging network expands, with the WLTP range figure providing confidence to first-time electric mobility adopters as an internationally recognised reliability standard.
