Aion is the dedicated new energy vehicle brand of GAC Group — Guangzhou Automobile Group Co., Ltd. — one of China's largest and most established state-owned automakers. Established in 2017 as GAC New Energy Automobile Co., Ltd., Aion was created to give GAC a focused identity in the rapidly growing Chinese pure electric vehicle market, separate from GAC's traditional fuel-powered brands such as Trumpchi. The brand was formally renamed Aion in 2020, accompanied by the launch of a distinctive visual identity and a clear product positioning around accessible, technology-forward electric mobility.
