Stelato is a new Chinese luxury electric vehicle brand born from the strategic partnership between BAIC Group, one of China's major state-owned automakers, and Huawei Technologies, the global technology giant. Launched in 2023, Stelato positions itself at the intersection of Chinese automotive manufacturing capability and Huawei's world-leading smart vehicle technology.
Stelato emerged from BAIC Group's strategic pivot towards premium electric vehicles and smart mobility. BAIC, the Beijing Automotive Industry Holding Corporation, recognised that competing in China's fast-moving premium EV segment required technology partnerships beyond traditional automotive engineering. In 2019, BAIC and Huawei began collaborating on intelligent vehicle systems — a partnership that deepened as Huawei's automotive division, Intelligent Automotive Solution (IAS), developed its comprehensive HarmonyOS-based vehicle computing platform.
The Stelato brand was formally unveiled in 2023 as the consumer-facing expression of the BAIC–Huawei collaboration. The flagship Stelato S9 luxury sedan is powered by Huawei's Qiankun intelligent driving system and features a full HarmonyOS 4 smart cockpit — placing it directly in competition with premium Chinese EV brands including AITO (SERES–Huawei) and NIO. The S9 offers a 200 kW+ electric motor, LIDAR-equipped autonomous driving, and an interior designed around Huawei's digital ecosystem.
Stelato represents one of several Huawei-branded vehicle partnerships — alongside AITO (Seres), Luxeed (Chery), and Maextro (JAC) — in which Huawei provides the intelligent systems architecture while traditional automakers supply the vehicle platform and manufacturing capability. This model has proven highly competitive in China's premium EV segment, with Huawei's software expertise and brand recognition translating directly into consumer appeal for vehicles that might otherwise be perceived as conventional domestic products.
Stelato's S9 luxury sedan represents the fusion of BAIC's manufacturing heritage with Huawei's digital intelligence — a luxury EV designed to compete with the most technically advanced vehicles in China's rapidly evolving premium segment.

Stelato's initial lineup is focused on the premium luxury sedan segment, with the Stelato S9 as the brand's flagship offering powered by Huawei's full intelligent vehicle technology stack.
Stelato vehicles are defined by Huawei's Qiankun intelligent vehicle system — an integrated platform combining HarmonyOS 4 infotainment and vehicle control, advanced driver assistance, LIDAR-based perception, and over-the-air update capability. This system gives Stelato vehicles a software sophistication that rivals Tesla's technology ecosystem, combined with Chinese market optimisation that Western technology stacks often cannot match.
Stelato is a very new brand and is not yet widely known in Azerbaijan. However, as part of China's rapidly growing premium EV export wave — alongside NIO, HiPhi, AITO, and other Huawei-affiliated brands — Stelato represents exactly the kind of technologically sophisticated Chinese luxury vehicle that is beginning to appear in Azerbaijani showrooms. For buyers seeking a premium electric sedan with cutting-edge technology at a price point below European equivalents, Stelato warrants close attention.
The Azerbaijani market's openness to Chinese vehicles, combined with the prestige of the Huawei brand name in the technology sector, positions Stelato well for eventual entry into the Caucasus region. As EV charging infrastructure improves across Azerbaijan and CIS markets, luxury Chinese EVs like the Stelato S9 will become increasingly practical alternatives to European premium brands — offering comparable or superior technology at substantially lower acquisition costs.
