Tazzari is a small Italian electric vehicle manufacturer based in Imola — the heartland of Italian motorsport — founded in 2005. The company hand-builds the ZERO, a stylish electric microcar combining contemporary Italian design with zero-emission urban mobility, at very low volumes for European markets.
Tazzari GL was founded in 2005 in Imola, Emilia-Romagna — a region synonymous with Italian automotive excellence, home to Ferrari, Lamborghini, and the famous Imola racing circuit. The Tazzari family brought decades of experience in the automotive components industry to the project, establishing a small handbuilt electric vehicle operation focused on the urban mobility segment.
The ZERO — Tazzari's flagship and effectively sole model — was unveiled at the 2009 Geneva Motor Show. A two-seat electric microcar with striking Italian design, the ZERO offered 100% battery-electric propulsion, an aluminium space-frame chassis, and a polycarbonate body produced in a range of vivid colours. The ZERO was positioned as a premium alternative to the mass-produced Renault Twizy and Citroën C-Zero — Italian craftsmanship at the price of a niche EV.
Tazzari has continued to develop the ZERO family with the ZERO L (extended wheelbase for better range and comfort), the ZERO Sport (higher-performance variant with improved motor output), and special-edition bespoke versions. Production remains small — measured in hundreds rather than thousands — preserving the handbuilt character that differentiates Tazzari from larger EV producers.
Every Tazzari ZERO is handbuilt in Imola — a vivid polycarbonate body over an aluminium space-frame, combining Italian design passion with zero-emission urban engineering.

The Tazzari ZERO family covers a range of specifications from the standard urban EV to bespoke high-performance and individually specified variants.
Tazzari's engineering approach prioritises low weight, Italian design quality, and zero-emission technology. The ZERO's aluminium space-frame chassis keeps kerb weight to approximately 480 kg — extremely light for any vehicle, producing outstanding efficiency from its battery system. The polycarbonate body panels allow a wide colour palette without painting, reducing the environmental impact of production.
Tazzari vehicles are essentially absent from Azerbaijan's market — the brand's tiny production volumes and European market focus make any appearance in the Caucasus region exceptional. However, as electric urban mobility grows in Baku and other Azerbaijani cities, small Italian EVs like the Tazzari ZERO represent a vision of what personalised, design-focused electric mobility can look like.
For enthusiasts interested in rare European EVs, Tazzari is a fascinating specialist brand. Any purchase would require direct import from Europe, with charging infrastructure in Baku already sufficient for the ZERO's urban range. The brand's Italian origin and handbuilt character make it a genuine collector's piece — as much an art object as a mode of transport.
