TOGG (Türkiye'nin Otomobili Girişim Grubu) is Turkey's national electric vehicle initiative — a bold state-backed project to develop a home-grown automobile brand that embodies Turkey's industrial ambitions and technological aspirations. Launched in 2018 with the support of Turkey's five largest industrial conglomerates and the government, TOGG represents one of the most ambitious automotive nation-building projects of the 21st century.
Turkey has produced automobiles through joint ventures and foreign brand agreements for decades, but TOGG represents something fundamentally different — a genuinely Turkish car, designed and engineered in Turkey, owned by Turkish companies, and conceived as a catalyst for the country's technological and industrial development. The founding consortium brings together Anadolu Group, BMC, Koca Holding, Turkcell, and Zorlu Holding, with the Turkish government providing strategic support and the Presidency of the Republic of Turkey directly endorsing the initiative.
TOGG's manufacturing facility in Gemlik, Bursa was constructed from scratch as a smart factory incorporating Industry 4.0 digital manufacturing principles, renewable energy systems, and the latest robotics technology. The facility's design — with an organic, flowing exterior inspired by a leaf unfolding — reflects the brand's aspiration to represent a new kind of industrial endeavour: sustainable, technology-forward, and distinctly Turkish in character.
The TOGG T10X, the brand's first production vehicle, was delivered to customers in 2023 after years of development. The vehicle was designed by Italian automotive design house Pininfarina, ensuring a globally competitive aesthetic while maintaining Turkish ownership of the fundamental engineering and technology. TOGG also developed its own software platform, called Trumore, which connects the vehicle to a broader digital ecosystem including a dedicated app store and third-party services.
TOGG vehicles feature Pininfarina-designed bodywork that combines contemporary European design sensibility with a distinctive Turkish identity rooted in the brand's national mission.

TOGG's growing range of electric vehicles covers SUV and sedan segments, with additional body styles planned across a five-model roadmap to serve different buyer needs.
TOGG has invested significantly in developing proprietary technology rather than simply licensing solutions from established suppliers. The Trumore platform, built in partnership with tech companies, provides an app ecosystem specific to TOGG vehicles with services ranging from energy management to lifestyle applications. The manufacturing facility integrates fully digital production processes that support future model flexibility.
Turkey and Azerbaijan share deep cultural, linguistic, and historical ties — often described as "one nation, two states" — making TOGG's vehicles naturally interesting to Azerbaijani buyers who follow Turkish cultural and industrial developments closely. TOGG's status as Turkey's national automotive pride project gives it a cultural resonance in Azerbaijan that imported Chinese or European brands cannot replicate.
The brand has already expressed interest in expanding to Azerbaijan and other Turkic-speaking markets, where its Turkish identity creates inherent brand affinity. For Azerbaijani buyers considering an electric vehicle, TOGG offers the added dimension of supporting a brotherly nation's industrial ambitions while accessing genuinely capable and attractively designed technology.
