Origins & Heritage
VinFast was established in 2017 by Vingroup, Vietnam's largest private conglomerate. The brand emerged with the mission of delivering domestically manufactured cars to Vietnam's rapidly growing middle class and, in the longer term, transforming Vietnam into a global automotive exporter. The initial pace was extraordinary: Vingroup built a large manufacturing complex in Haiphong, Vietnam, in just two years.
VinFast began petrol vehicle production in 2019 with the Lux A2.0 sedan and Lux SA2.0 SUV, both based on BMW 3 Series and 5 Series platforms licensed and managed by VinFast. This entry allowed the brand to develop customer service infrastructure, manufacturing processes, and brand awareness. The company then announced its pivot toward electric vehicles.
VinFast transitioned to electric vehicles with the VF e34 electric SUV in 2021, followed by the larger, export-oriented VF series including the VF8 and VF9. The brand presented the VF8 and VF9 to global audiences at the Los Angeles and Paris motor shows in 2022, announcing export plans for Europe, North America, and Asia. By 2024, VinFast was scaling global deliveries while consolidating its presence in the CIS region.

VinFast in Azerbaijan
VinFast vehicles increased their Caucasus region presence between 2022 and 2024 as the brand actively negotiated distributor partnerships in CIS markets. The VF8 remains the brand's most visible model in the region — its contemporary design and competitive range specifications make it suited to Baku's urban environment where charging infrastructure is increasingly available.
Charging infrastructure planning is important for VinFast buyers in Azerbaijan. With home charging installed, models such as the VF8 and VF5 comfortably meet daily urban driving requirements.
